History

Stein Eriksen Lodge is a Five-Star ski lodge in Deer Valley, located in Park City, UT. Named after the world-renowned Olympic skier Stein Eriksen, the Lodge opened at Deer Valley in December 1982 as one of the first luxury condominium hotels in the United States. The Lodge was developed by the Silver Lake Associates organization, which consisted of Stein Eriksen, Rick Prince, Paul Dougan, and Robert Morris, all individuals who helped conceptualize and develop the Lodge. It is currently managed by the Stein Eriksen Lodge Management Corp.

Stein Eriksen Lodge was built in phases, which consisted of individual units that were sold to private buyers with the option of renting to guests on a nightly basis.  Phase I opened in December 1982 with 31 units, Phase II opened in December 1984 with an additional 23 units, and Phase III opened in May 2002 with an additional 11 units.

Awards

Stein Eriksen Lodge has received numerous awards and recognition since its opening in 1982, including the World Ski Award's choice for World's Best Ski Hotel in 2014 and 2015. In 2007, the Lodge earned the Forbes Five-Star award, making it Utah's first hotel to receive the industry's most coveted award. In addition, Stein Eriksen Lodge has received recognition from Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, USA Today, TripAdvisor, Wine Spectator Award, and Robb Report.

Stein Eriksen

Stein Eriksen was an innovator, a world champion, and an Olympian who forever revolutionized the alpine skiing world. He attracted world attention in the 1952 Olympic Games on Oslo, Norway, where he won the Gold Medal in the Men's Giant Slalom. Two years later, Stein captured three gold medals for Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Combined at the FIS World Championships. Stein was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame in 1982.
